Candy is dandy… but liquor is quicker !

Johnnie Walker's whisky was originally sold by John Walker himself and known as Walker's Kilmarnock Whisky, Kilmarnock being the Scottish town it is still made in. From the beginning of the 19th century up to now, this brand is known for its finest quality, hence the slogan "Born 1820 – Still going strong !".

Mr Walker died in 1857 leaving the business to his son and grandson who are mainly responsible for the whisky's great success. They developed the range when mixing blends became legal by creating many new types of whisky, each with a colour-coded label (so if you've already had a bit too much to drink, just aim for that blurry colour sitting on the table !). The labels can also easily be recongnized by the way they are stuck on the bottles : each one is carefully laid at a 24° angle, an originality that whispers "only the best ".

Amongst these many mixes, the top of the range are the black label, a mix of over forty whiskies each aged for 12 years, the gold label, a mix of fifteen extremely fine malts, and finally the blue label, a crème-de-la-crème blend whose every bottle has its very own serial number and is sold in a silk-lined box carrying an authenticity certificate. Luxury !

The company also occasionnaly treats us with special limited editions such as the Blue Label's 200th anniversary bottles sold at over $3,500 in 2005.

The Johnnie Walker 's Striding Man logo is also a key feature on the products and was created in remembrance of the man himself who wore these same very dandy looks. The manifacturer, Diageo, explains that the forward pace symbolizes forward thinking and the pursuit for excellence.
